In my youth, after sleep took hold, I'd find myself outside my own body, floating above and cruising through the open window, soaring over the neighborhood. It wasn't a dream – the dogs down below barked their confirmation as I drifted overhead. Unfortunately, by the age of nine, that peculiar skill slipped away.
Still, I've retained the knack for talking to animals and easing babies into sleep effortlessly. I love to cook but eating is where it’s at. I’ve fire-danced in front of crowds while dressed as a monkey and sang for my supper on national TV more than once. Lately, I've been guiding the 276 Mountain Men as their Scoutmaster. They're a bunch of keen youngsters drawn to climbing mountains, which aligns well with my penchant for challenging endeavors like running really really far, scaling very tall peaks, and trying to outsmart cunning trout. However, despite what I'm telling you, for me it’s not the saying I did it; it's about immersing in the experience and pondering the 'what if.'
I’ve heard the call of the wild and I've answered it. I’ve been lost in despair by the side of a great & beautiful lake as coyotes cried next to me and I came back a better person. I’ve seen the signs amongst the stars of a moonless Sierra Nevada sky and heard the whispers in the wind that have revealed the message to me , "It's ok, you'll be alright.” Yet, what it all really boils down to is that, joy for me is about being with my two sons and conveying the same to them.
Give me a call sometime; I'd be happy to tell you too.
